A transformative year ahead

Mahatma Gandhi Hospital, Jaipur, is a 1450-bedded teaching hospital with world-class facilities like a cancer center, neurosciences, digestive sciences, hematology tower, transplant units for heart, kidney, and liver, world-class ICU and ECMO units, bone marrow transplant unit, genetic lab with prestigious accreditations like NAAC, NABH, NABL accreditation and reaccreditation, ISO, AABB for blood bank. We started 2022 with the pandemic still looming large, uncertainty prevailing over the entire country, and healthcare sector was no different. When we look back at 2022, our single biggest achievement was treating more than 1 lakh Covid patients. Also, MGH has started its Regional Emergency and Trauma Center, approved for medico-legal cases, along with well-equipped ambulance facilities, meant to save lives of the victims of road accidents.

A lot has happened, but a lot remains to be done. As we enter 2023, Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology continues its medical education and healthcare like a flowing river. We will keep irrigating the entire nation. abiding by its motto, “He who understands the pain of others is one of God’s own.”

We will make a significant effort to speed up the transformation through digitization, innovation, and technology. Doctors that dominate rural Bharat need a digital push that can advance patient care.

Furthermore, working on digital systems will empower our hospital to streamline operations, patient tracking, and engagement, followed by administrative functions. This will also play an important role to push automation and digitization of electronic medical records along with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. It will allow patients the power and control to share it with various service providers. We hope to see significant developments toward this in the upcoming year 2023. With establishment of new technologies comes the promise of better treatment options for many patients. Imaging equipment with new technologies offer faster speeds and higher image resolutions. The newer machines can be used for more complex diagnosis. This advanced imaging equipment can help expedite evaluating more patients.

We will also introduce We Care platform for the patients inside our hospital, through which the patient’s journey inside the hospital (from admission till discharge) will be taken care through this single platform, leading to a positive impact on lives and society. We will work on enhancing service quality and efficiency, as well as to find new ways to integrate data, technology, and distributed networks of providers focused on wellness and disease prevention rather than the critically ill. Quality and efficiency of care will continue to improve due to ground-breaking and evolving technologies. We will also have special focus on patient satisfaction.

Advanced facilities, skilled doctors, and affordable treatment make it an ideal destination for medical tourists. Currently, we have our medical examination center at Jaipur airport that makes it more feasible to cater at national and international levels. We will set up more screening clinics abroad, and are coming up with air ambulance service soon. Following the hub-and-spoke model, we will expand clinics across Jaipur and Rajasthan. Also, a 500-bed Digestive Sciences Center will be established by 2025. We will mark active witness to the growth story of this tertiary care institute, and are determined to take it to newer heights and making it a center of excellence in medical sciences in India, following our vision, i.e., to provide quality healthcare to every section of the society and to be a preferred medical institution for treatment.

This will go a long way as we work on ensuring quality healthcare for all. Reminiscing about 2022 creates a sense of satisfaction of a good year gone by. Looking ahead to 2023 gives immense hope of a transformative year ahead for the industry overall.
