Action against five hospitals for charging extra

The Health and Family Welfare Department in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday took action against five hospitals in Raipur and Bilaspur districts for charging extra money from patients.

The irregularities were revealed after the hospitals registered under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (Dr Khubchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana) were audited for patients treated online, an official communication said.

A senior official issued orders for action against the hospitals found to have committed irregularities.

The institutions are Anjali Nursing Home, Maher Hospital and Shah Nursing Home of Nawapara in Raipur as well as Shri Balaji Hospital of Bilaspur and Ramkrishna CARE Hospital of Raipur.

The Health Department suspended the services of Shri Balaji Hospital for one year, Anjali Nursing Home was fined Rs 3 lakh and suspended for one year, Maher Hospital was fined Rs 5 lakh and suspended for a year and Shah Nursing Home was fined Rs 3 lakh and suspended for one year.

A penalty of Rs 6.16 lakh was imposed on Ramkrishna CARE Hospital. The amount has to be reimbursed to the patients from whom extra money was charged. Daily Pioneer
