Agra Municipal Corporation to Install 10 Health Kiosks

In a bid to provide easy and cheap health check-up, the Agra Municipal Corporation (AMC) plans to set up 10 health kiosks where people can get a quick check up done — such as their body weight, blood pressure, diabetes, glucose level and body mass index — by paying just ₹20. According to AMC officials, nine machines will be installed near Taj Mahal and one at the head office on MG road under the smart city project. Users would be able to get the reports within minutes. Mayor Naveen Jain said, “The heath kiosk project will be implemented in the city very soon. In the first phase, we are focusing on Tajganj locality, which is under the smart city project. The installation of these 10 health check-up machines will cost around ₹90 lakh. Besides locals, these kiosks will be of great help to a large number of tourists who visit Agra daily to see the Taj Mahal.” “The advanced health check-up machines will provide these services cheap,” he added.

AMC administration is already discussing the plan to buy the machines with some major health kiosk manufacturing companies. Appointing one attendant at each of the kiosks to help people get the check-up done smoothly is also under consideration. Additional municipal commissioner Vijay Kumar said, “The functioning of the health kiosks has been understood. It is a sophisticated machine and requires proper care. One attendant will be appointed at each kiosk. The attendants will be trained to address visitors’ queries. On an average, it will take five minutes for one person to get five health check-up done. The first machine will be installed at the AMC premises on a pilot basis, and the tender process for it will be initiated within this month.” Besides the AMC premises, such health kiosks will be also be set up at AMC inter college in Tajganj, Tajganj Girls High School, Shilpgram, Vaibhav Nagar near Amar Hotel, two spots on Fatehabad road, western gate of Shahjahan park and Ambedkar Park later. – TOI
