AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Host National Seminar on Patient Safety, Quality Healthcare

AIIMS Bhubaneswar in collaboration with Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, USA, will conduct a national seminar on safety and quality in healthcare on December 8. The expert doctors will discuss these aspects because safety and quality are fundamental to the delivery of healthcare. Experts like AIIMS Mangalagiri president TS Ravi Kumar, Reba Kanungo from Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, Ashish K Jha and Sarthak Das from Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, consultant neurosurgeon Vikram Kashyap and senior professors of the AIIMS Bhubaneswar will attend the seminar.

These experts will discuss surgical safety, medication safety, sentinel event monitoring and control, facilities management, patient care portal and quality in health- global scenario. “Besides, the patient safety program incorporates hospital infection control and prevention of adverse events. It is crucial to delivering quality healthcare services,” said Jawahar SK Pillai, department of hospital administration of the AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Patient safety has been increasingly recognized as an issue of global importance and the World Health Organization (WHO) member states have agreed on a world health assembly resolution on this in 2002. Subsequently, the Central government has developed the National Patient Safety Implementation framework 2018-2025 for its proper implementation in the country. – TOI
