Panaji: The Goa government has allotted the ground floor of the old campus of Goa Institute of Management (GIM) to the ministry of Ayush to set up an Ayush centre, minister of state for Ayush Shripad Naik said recently.
He said around 1,600sqm has been allotted for the centre at Ribandar along with 252 sqm for residential accommodation.
Under the National Ayush Mission, Rs 30 crore has been sanctioned for the two district hospitals, he said, adding that an initial amount has been released to the Goa government to start work.
Naik also said that construction of the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy at Dhargal in Pernem is in progress. The total cost of phase I of the project is Rs 301 crore, with 250 beds which will be managed by trained and qualified staff, he said.
The centre will offer undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD degrees to over 500 students every year. A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the ministry of Ayush and the Goa government under which 50% of the seats will be reserved for locals.-Times Of India
