BJP alleges faulty medical equipment, govt denies

The non-functioning of medical equipment at the Advance Cardiac Institute in Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital (MEKAHARA) echoed in the Chhattisgarh Assembly on Thursday. The government denied the charge.

BJP’s Brijmohan Agrawal raised the issue through a call attention motion and alleged that the angioplasty machine had stopped working, creating problems for poor patients.

The Minister denied that any machine was non-functional and denied that treatments were halted because of this.

For requirements of medical instruments, tenders have been flouted and necessary funds have been released, he said.

The Minister denied that any vendor had stopped supplying instruments to the hospital.

The cardiac institute was established in 2017. Daily Pioneer
