Chandigarh Set To Get Covid-19 Command Centre Soon

CHANDIGARH: The municipal corporation (MC is all set to launch exclusive Covid-19 command centre in the city. With the launch of this centre, the city will have complete analytic data of novel coronavirus cases, their position, age group, affected and hotspots, locations and quarantine facilities of the administration.

The move has been taken to prepare a daily analytical report on the real-time data related to Covid-19 to plan a strategy and deal with the situation.

The centre will have around eight big screens and will be managed by around 10 technical experts. These experts will first gather all the related data from different sources like hospitals, administration and police and then analyse the same to send it to the senior officers concerned of the Chandigarh administration to plan strategy with the help of real time data to fight coronavirus.

Besides that, the Covid-19 centre will also monitor the functioning of garbage collectors, garbage collecting vehicles in their respective areas, movement of home quarantine people, movement of vendors and even the presence of cops at their duty points. New features will also be added as per the requirements in the coming days.

“The centre will provide real-time data of all Covid-19 related exercises and things will be planned accordingly to fight the deadly virus by undergoing a complete analysis. It will also strengthen our monitoring over the essential items suppliers so that all the areas in the city have smooth supply of vegetables, fruits, milk and related items,” said municipal commissioner K K Yadav.

“The centre will also provide information on dedicated quarantine centres of the UT. This will help in sending people to the nearby quarantine centres,” he said.

Sources in the MC revealed that sanitation employees and garbage collecting vehicles will also be monitored regularly through this centre.

“Since the tracker app is already in place to keep a watch over the home quarantined people, it will be developed further with more features,” said an official.-Times Of India
