Chemists Want Changes In New Drug Policy

A delegation of the Punjab Chemists’ Association recently met Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu. Delegation members apprised him of various problems being faced by traders.

Surinder Duggal, president of the association, said the minister had assured them the demands of the traders would be incorporated in the proposed new drug policy.

The association has demanded that the licence for the sale of medicines should be provided to persons with qualifications of B.Pharma, D.Pharma and M.Pharma. They also sought an experience of five years for issuing the licence. Besides, the association has also demanded that if any partner of a firm wishes to separate, in such a situation every partner having a five-year experience in the business should be granted the licence.

Duggal said, “We have also demanded that the firms should be allowed to have partners if the financial situation demands so.”-Tribune India
