Civic Body Invites Bids for PG Institute and Revamp Work at YCMH

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) floated the tender for the proposed work of the three-year postgraduate institute at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital and the renovation of the neonatal intensive care unit and the doctors’ residence. The estimated cost of the work is ₹30.66 crore. The state government had recently approved 2.5 floor space index (FSI) for the memorial hospital. With the additional FSI, the medical institute can be started. It will be affiliated with the BJ Medical College, Pune. As a special provision, ₹5 crore has been given to the postgraduate medical institute in the civic budget for 2018-19. The PCMC has also proposed to start multi-level parking space, night shelters, general and emergency wards, outpatient departments, operation theaters and canteen facilities at the memorial hospital.

For the postgraduate medical institute, the faculties will include medicine, surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, psychology, pathology, ophthalmology and gynecology. “The initial intake capacity will be 44 seats. The doctors will also be increased at the memorial hospital,” a medical official said. The state government in April last year, gave the approval to start the postgraduate medical institute. The YCMH has a 650-bed capacity. Former municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi in 2012 had mooted the idea to start the institute. – TOI
