Close to 10k healthcare, frontline workers administered COVID vax

The directorate of health and family welfare services has administered Covid-19 vaccine to 9,864 healthcare and frontline workers in the last 27 days.

The directorate so far has administered the vaccine to 9,380 healthcare workers and 484 frontline workers. It administered the vaccine to 272 healthcare workers and 30 frontline workers on Friday.

The territory reported 20 fresh cases even as 23 patients recovered bringing down the total number of active cases to 194 on Friday.

Of 194 cases, 93 are under home isolation and treatment.Puducherry headquarters has the maximum active cases with 100 followed by Mahe (63), Karaikal (26) and Yanam (5).

The territory did not report a Covid-19 death, and the death toll stood at 667. Puducherry headquarters has the maximum fatalities with 545 followed by Karaikal (67), Yanam (45) and Mahe (10). The fatality rate of the infection stood at 1.7%.

The territory has so far reported 39,697 cases of which 38,836 patients recovered registering a recovery rate of 97.8%.

Healthcare authorities have sent 6.29 lakh swab samples of which 5.81 lakh samples returned negative. The positivity rate of the samples (1,648) tested on Friday stood at 1.2%.
