CMCH to Soon Use Digitized Pathological Reports to Cut Down on Delay

Calcutta Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) is soon going to introduce digitized pathological reports for the patients who often complain about the delay in the delivery of medical reports. Meanwhile, it may be mentioned that some patients and their relatives staged a protest demonstration inside the CMCH campus, alleging that they get the clinical reports many days after the tests are conducted. This often leads to delay in the treatment. Keeping the issue in mind, the hospital authorities have decided to introduce digitized lab reports, so that the whole process can be made more effective. Patients coming to the hospital often complain that they have to wait for nearly a month to get their clinical reports. It has been learnt from hospital sources that as soon as a patient undergoes a clinical test, an ID number would be generated by the Central Laboratory.

A senior official of the hospital said that the new system would be introduced in another 7-15 days. A comprehensive method would be put in place so that the reports can be delivered to the patients in lesser time. A LAN system has already been set up at the hospital to introduce the system. Various departments of the hospital would be connected through the system. The patients will no longer have to produce the prescription while getting the clinical report, once the new system is inaugurated. “There is a delay in the delivery of reports to the patients after 2 pm. The matter is being considered with utmost sincerity. It is expected that the new system will be made operational in the next few days. The reports of the patients would also be delivered to the concerned departments. The hospital authorities are also contemplating the proposal of introducing online clinical test reports for the patients,” a senior official of the hospital said. – Millennium Post
