Taking strong exceptions to long delay in the construction of Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in Haridwar and Selaqui, the chief secretary of Uttarakhand Utpal Kumar Singh has asked the agency, tasked with the work, to expedite while chairing a meeting at the State secretariat on Monday. In course of the meeting, he directed the assistant director of ESIC and in- charge of ESIC Uttarakhand Heera Singh to start the work on these hospitals promptly so as to enable the workers employed in private factories in Haridwar and Selaqui areas to get health facilities.
CS also talked to the director general of ESIC, Raj Kumar on telephone and said that state government has allotted land for the hospital to ESIC but the executive agency has not allotted the work despite several years having passed since. He urged the DG ESIC to ensure that the work is expedited so that the employees working in private sector are not kept deprived of health benefits any longer. In the meeting, CS was informed that a 100 bedded hospital would become operational in Rudrapur by December 2018.
