Delhi Government Set to Launch 57 Wellness Centers

Adding another feather in the healthcare set up for the citizens of national Capital, the Delhi government is all set to launch wellness centers on the line of Mohalla Clinic and Polyclinic. The Health Department will be launching 57 wellness centers beyond March 31. According to official at Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS): “This is another strong step towards providing primary care facilities to the common people with the opening of 57 wellness centers. The Department has started preparing for it.” He also added that staff at these wellness centers would be equipped to provide care for mother and child care, drug and behavior, eye-ENT and Trauma care. Moreover, the staff would also be trained to provide the palliative care to the cancer patients. The official further said that facilities like Mother and Child Care, Dental, Psychiatrist, Drugs and Behavior, Eye, ENT, Trauma Care are essential for the Wellness Center. Without this, the wellness center does not mean, so we have started preparing for it. The doctors and paramedical staff of the Dispensary, Mohalla Clinic and Poly Clinics are working on the trend to get trained from the various prominent healthcare institutions.

The senior official from DGHS said that the department has written a letter to the department of the various hospitals which are supposed to train our staffs. “We have sent letters to All India Institute of Medical Sciences’ Palliative cancer care, similarly for the dental care, to Maulana Azad Dental Institute and for Mother and Child care to Lok Nayak Hospital, for drug and behavior letter has been sent to Institute of Human Behavior & Allied Sciences (IHBAS) and staff will be trained for the eye care from Guru Nanak Eye Center. The official further informed that as soon the medicos will accomplish their training, the DGHS will turn their old dispensaries, Mohalla clinics and Polyclinics into wellness centers. Only, 57 old centers will be converted into wellness centers, the rest of the Mohalla Clinic and Poly Clinic will continue to function as earlier. “Five-five wellness centers will be built in every district,” official said. He also added that our preparations are in full swing and expecting that by March 31, 2019 all these centers will be operational. – Millennium Post
