Dharavi reports 3 new cases; Mumbai’s recovery rate climbs to 76%

Reporting close to 50,000 cases on each day, India’s COVID count inched towards 15 lakh-mark on Tuesday. At present, 4.97 lakh people are actively taking treatment, while 9.53 lakh have been cured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is in a much better position than other countries as a result of the ‘right decisions taken at the right time’. The COVID-19 tally in Maharashtra increased to 3.83 lakh with the addition of 7,924 fresh cases. Mumbai city and its suburban areas reported 1,021 fresh cases. With 39 deaths, the fatality count in the region reached 6,132.

The state now has 1.48 lakh active cases. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray directed health officials to form an integrated COVID-19 treatment procedure by discussing Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda and Unani medicine streams.An additional worry for India is that the virus has now reached areas where it previously wasn’t present and half of all districts have now reported at least 500 cases. As the caseload for metros like Mumbai, Delhi drops, it’s the satellite towns and the hinterland that’s now a cause for concern. – Mumbai Mirror
