Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital has commissioned two centres in the city. The new centres in Kodambakkam and Tiruvottiyur will have facilities to perform surgeries for cataract and glaucoma, besides routine eye examination.
The Kodambakkam facility will be the 84th and the Tiruvottiyur branch the 85th centre in the country.
Hospital chairman Amar Agarwal said the hospital planned to increase the number of centres to 100 by 2020 with a focus on the northern States.
“India has around 12-18 million blind people and as much as 55% of it is due to cataract,” he said.
Both the centres are equipped with state-of-the art equipment. Patients will have to come to the main hospital at Cathedral Road only for Lasik and other high-end complex surgeries, Dr. Agarwal said.
