Egypt’s Health Minister discusses bilateral cooperation

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Baheya Foundation Hospital Tamer Shawky and Laila Salem — a member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees — at the ministry’s headquarters to discuss cooperation.

The meeting came within the framework of the Ministry of Health and Population’s strategy to enhance the quality of health services provided to oncology patients and the President of the Republic’s initiative to support women’s health, develop and raise the quality of medical services, and to overcome obstacles and challenges to achieve the goals of the Egypt 2030 Vision, according to a statement from the ministry on Sunday.

Abdel Ghaffar discussed the mechanisms for signing a cooperation protocol between the ministry and the Baheya Foundation in light of the ministry’s keenness to provide “targeted treatment” at the state’s expense or health insurance to facilitate the completion of treatment stages.

The meeting also addressed cooperation in unifying the treatment protocol and establishing a unified central database that allows the creation of a medical file for each patient, which contributes to facilitating diagnosis and medical follow-up.

Furthermore, the ministry’s spokesperson said that the meeting discussed cooperation in raising awareness of the importance of controlling population growth by organising courses to educate those attending medical facilities on reproductive health, the importance of breastfeeding, and the suitable wait tines between pregnancies, in addition to intensifying awareness sessions on the risks and prevention of cancer.

The minister also directed the necessity of overcoming the obstacles and challenges that citizens may face in obtaining medical services — whether public, private, or non-profit — and also stressed the need for citizens to continue to obtain treatment protocols at reasonable prices.
