Foundation Laid For 100-Bed ESI Hospital

Minister of state for labour and employment Santosh Kumar Gangwar laid the foundation stone for a 100-bed ESI hospital, which will be constructed with Rs 110 crore, in Kakinada on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Gangwar said with the objective of workers’ welfare, 154 hospitals, 1,500 dispensaries, 815 branch offices, 65 regional and sub-regional offices are working under ESI.

He said the 100-bed hospital will be built in 7.26 acres and benefit 63,000 workers and 2.45 lakh family members in Kakinada and Yanam region. He assured that the Centre will extend every possible support to ESI hospitals in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

He said, the Centre is giving utmost priority to the three and half crore workers and their 12 crore family members who are dependent on them. The expenditure is borne by the workers through their contribution from their wages even though the Centre has sanctioned 100-bed hospital in Kakinada.

Her appreciated the fact that the maintenance of ESI hospitals in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states are the best in the country and added that Hyderabad hospital is the best in the country.

He said workers and managements are contributing 1.25% and 4.25%, respectively. With the total of six percent and informed that this total has been reduced to four per cent.-Times Of India
