Coimbatore-based Ganga Medical Centre and Hospitals was identified as the Centre for Quality Promotion (CQP) by the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations (CAHO).
A release issued by the hospital said that CAHO chose GMCH as the 25th CQP in India. The primary function of CQP will be to handhold other healthcare organisations towards accreditation.
Vijay Agarwal, president of CAHO, declared the hospital as the 25th CQP in the country at a function held recently in the presence of Suresh Lulla, founder of Qimpro Foundation, M. Mariappan, president of the Coimbatore branch of the Indian Medical Association, Alex Thomas, founder member and president of the Association of Healthcare Providers of India.
Dr. Agarwal has pivotal roles in national health initiatives like the Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme and introduction of Centralised Waste Management Scheme in New Delhi.
Chairman of Ganga Hospital J. G. Shanmuganthan, Managing Director Kanakavalli Shanmuganthan, directors S. Raja Sabapathy and S. Rajasekaran were present at the function.
CAHO is a non-profit organisation working to improve healthcare quality in the country in coordination with National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers and Quality Council of India. – The Hindu
