General Hospital to Get 300 More Bed Sheets

As part of Indian Medical Association’s (Kerala) patient care scheme, Ernakulam General Hospital (EGH) will get 300 bedsheets on doctor’s day. IMA, for the first time under the scheme, has decided to gift medical equipment and material worth ₹1 lakh to each district hospital in the state. A total of ₹15 lakh will be spend by IMA under the scheme. While EGH gets bedsheets, other hospitals are set to get hospital beds, ECG machine, fingertip pulse oximeter with heart rate, ultrasonic nebulizer, stretcher, thermometer, torch, and weighing machine.

“We have bought what the respective district hospital medical superintendent asked us to give. The money under the scheme is from doctor’s contribution,” said Dr VG Pradeep Kumar, IMA’s patient care scheme. This is the first time that IMA that has been organizing medical camps and awareness programmes among the community. “We negotiated on the price of the equipment and ensured that we got a 30 to 40 percent discount,” added Dr Pradeep. – TOI
