Govt Plans Incentive For Frontline Warriors

Gandhinagar: The state government plans to give financial incentives to boost the morale of frontline workers posted at government hospitals designated as Covid-19 hospitals. The beneficiaries will include doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, and sanitation workers posted at government-run facilities.

The incentives could be up to one month’s additional salary. Key sources in the state health & family welfare department said the government is addressing day-to-day issues being faced by the frontline Covid warriors and is providing them with the best possible lodging and other arrangements that include food, yoga facility, entertainment and psychological counselling. “However, to boost the morale of these frontline warriors, the state government has decided to provide them with financial incentives as well,” a source said.

A proposal to this effect has been sent to the state government. “However, the Government of India is also planning to announce similar incentives,” the source said. “So, the state government is likely to wait for some time and merge the incentives of the GOI with state government sops.”

In case the Centre’s proposal is delayed, the state government will announce its decision. “It may be up to one month’s additional salary,” the source said.-Times Of India
