Haflong hospital commissions dialysis centre

With the inauguration of the Dialysis Centre under PM National Dialysis at Haflong Civil Hospital by Chief Executive Member of NC Hills Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa, Haflong Civil Hospital got the much-needed dialysis centre on Thursday.

CEM Gorlosa was accompanied by Executive Member, i/c Health Samuel Changsan, Principal Secretary, T T Daolagupu, Deputy Secretary Rebecca Changsan, Joint Director Health Services, Dr Duleshwar Gogoi, Hospital Superintendent, DPO NHM etc. during the inaugural ceremony.

This unit under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme implemented by National Health Mission was announced in the Union Budget 2016-17 with an objective to provide free Hemo-Dialysis to the patients suffering from kidney-related diseases.

The Hemo-Dialysis Centres under PMNDP have been implemented in Assam in Public Private Partnership mode. M/s Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, Chennai has been chosen through detailed selection process by National Health Mission, Assam to implement the Dialysis Programme in Assam. There are 36 functional centres in the State, of which Haflong Civil Hospital is the 37th centre.

The centre will remain open on all days of a week, except on Sunday, from 9:30 AM onwards. Each dialysis session usually takes 4-6 hours for completion. The Sentinel Assam
