Health Secretary Inaugurates Hemophilia Day Care Center

Health, Medical, Education and Family Welfare, Secretary Dr. Nitin Madan Kulkarni has directed the private hospitals of the city to organize Blood Donation Camp. After launching the Hemophilia Day Care Center in the new building of Sadar Hospital, Dr. Kulkarni was directing the officials in the meeting organized with the representatives of the private hospitals of the city in the Civil Surgeon Office Auditorium. He said that in the last six months, around 343 private hospitals in the city have used around 32,989 units of blood. “So, if you (hospital) are using more than 100 units of blood in a month, then it is mandatory to organize a camp. For this, a letter has also been issued from the department. It does not seem to have any effect. He said that the help will be provided to the hospitals to organize the camp,” he said. The hospital representatives requested Dr. Kulkarni to simplify the licensing process.

On this he told the representatives, “You instruct the doctors of your hospital to stop prescribing whole blood. Two or three patients can be benefited with the amount of blood.” Dr Kulkarni also instructed the representatives of private hospitals to install component separator. Earlier, during the meeting with the representatives of the Hemophilia Society, the Secretary spoke of providing poster banners related to Hemophilia. He said that awareness should be spread by the IEC in the district so that people are aware of it. Representatives of the Hemophilia Society gave information about the data related to hemophilia to the Health Secretary through a presentation. Dr. Nitin Kulkarni, after inaugurating the Hemophilia Day Care Center, went to the Shishu Ward of Sadar Hospital and inquired about the facilities and gave several instructions. Civil Surgeon Dr V.B. Prasad, D.S. Dr. A.K. Jha, ACMO Dr. Neelam Chaudhary, Dr. S.B. Khkhho, Dr. Vimlesh Singh, Ranjit, Antara and other physicians and health officials were present on the occasion. – Daily Pioneer
