Hyderabad: New Device Launched For Cancer Tests

A C-Met device for early detection of cancer was launched here at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) head office on Wednesday. A free cancer screening camp for sanitation workers was also held.

The device, developed by C-Met under the Make in India scheme and Niramai ensures privacy and lessens the need for highly-trained man power. The portable device also runs on battery which makes it more economical. Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan who launched the device along with civic chief D S Lokesh Kumar appealed to sanitation workers to get themselves screened. “Based on the results and response, the facility will be extended across the city. Wearable device for screening the disease would be made available to the poor and be arranged for at Basti Dawakhanas,” Rammohan said. – TOI
