India, Kenya ink five MOUs in health, other sectors

Kenya and India have signed five Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) aimed at enhancing bilateral ties between the two countries.

The two countries will collaborate in sectors that include health, energy, ICT sectors, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises as well as marketing avocados.

In a post shared on his official X app account, president William Ruto who is currently in India for bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi revealed that India will open its markets for Kenyan products in the agreement.

”Witnessed the signing of five memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing our bilateral relations. I welcomed the decision by India to open its market to avocados from Kenya and the continued assistance in health, energy, ICT sectors and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise,” read the post by the head of state.

Ruto exuded confidence in the deals that Kenya has now inked with India, adding that the country will benefit tremendously from India’s capacity and experience as a global leader in technology.

The meeting between the two heads o f state also encompassed discursions that will lay ground for the two countries to collaborate in effecting change in the world financial system to ensure that the Global South gets access to resources it needs to develop and transform the lives of people at a fair and just cost.
