Indian Hospital To Open Branch In Kenya

A team of doctors from Shally hospital in India have expressed interest in setting up a branch in Kenya.

Addressing the press in Garissa during a free medical check-up last Wednesday, Dr. Manu Sharma said that move was necessitated to minimize the number of patients seeking specialized treatment in India.

“We have witnessed the increase of Kenyan patients visiting our facility back at home. And to cut on costs of flying to India and staying in a foreign land, we have decided to open up a branch in Kenya,” said Dr. Sharma who led the team.

The two day free medical clinic that benefited over 400 residents from various parts of the county was done in collaboration with Gacal Budget, a Garissa based private hospital.

Dr. Sharma said the huge number of patients who turned up for the free clinic was an indication there are many Kenyans out there, who cannot afford to fly out of the country for specialized treatment.

On the other hand, Dr. Abdi Adan of Gacal budget hospital said they decided to bring the specialized Indian doctors after realizing that most of their clients were from poor backgrounds and thus could not afford the high cost of treating cancer and other life threatening diseases.

“We thank the foreign doctors for coming on board. We will partner with them on regular basis so as to benefit more patients,” added Dr. Adan
