Janta Clinics Opened, But All Not Ready For People

Jaipur: The city’s first Janta clinic was inaugurated by chief minister Ashok Gehlot at Valmiki Nagar on Wednesday. The health department has opened 10 such clinics in the slum areas of the city to give health facility access at their doorstep and reduce the burden of big hospitals.

Gehlot said people have to spend lot of money on treatment and sometime poor people avoid going for the treatment for want of money. “The state government is opening Janta clinics so that people get good medical facilities near their home,” he said.

“Top priority of our government is to make available quality health services to each person and to make Rajasthan healthy. Our effort is to make the state a leader in the field of health services for which ambitious programmes such as Nirogi Rajasthan campaign and Janta Clinic are being started,” said Gehlot. According to the government, more janta clinics will be opened in the state with the help and support from philanthropists, CSR activities, MLA-MP fund, voluntary organisations and the general public. Patients at these clinics will get free medicines along with the facility of free diagnostics near their house.

Though the initiative has been appreciated, not all janta clinics were found ready on Wednesday even after its inauguration. The clinic at Azad Nagar was under construction and will take a few more days to be opened for the public.-Times Of India
