LG Ladakh inaugurates oxygen plant at CHC Sankoo

The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, visited Suru Valley on the second day of his three-day visit to Kargil.

Chairman, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan; Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal; Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Santosh Sukhdeve; Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Anayat Ali Chaudhary and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sankoo, Mohd Haneef, accompanied LG Mathur during the tour.

LG Mathur inaugurated the 500 LPM PSA Oxygen Plant set up at Community Health Centre (CHC), Sankoo under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds of NHPC Ltd and District Capex Budget in the presence of Chairman of LAHDC Kargil, MP Ladakh, Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh, Mohsin Ali and Group General Manager, NHPC Ltd, Bikram Singh.

LG Mathur visited CHC Sankoo and interacted with the staff. Chief Medical Officer, Kargil, Dr Munawar Hussain, briefed about various medical facilities available at CHC Sankoo and requested for intervention in getting skilled manpower to operate the equipment.

A number of delegations called on LG Mathur during his visit to Sankoo Valley. The delegations put forth their issues for redressal.

Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur visited Barsoo block on the second day of his visit to Kargil. Chairman, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan; Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal; Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Santosh Sukhdeve and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kargil, Anayat Ali Chaudhary, accompanied LG Mathur during the tour.

LG Mathur visited the 8.5 metre-high statue of Chamba (Maitreya Buddha) at Karchey Khar. He also visited the tomb of Rgyal Khatoon, a queen from Baltistan. Historian Mohd Sadiq briefed about the history of the statue and shared the efforts being made for the preservation of the statue and the tomb. LG Mathur stressed on the need for a protective wall for the statue and for full use of its potential as a tourist destination.
