LifeDX HBPro from Immunoshop

Diabetes is one of the largest global health emergencies of this century, ranking among the 10 leading causes of mortality together with cardiovascular disease (CVD), respiratory disease, and cancer. The estimates in 2019 showed that 77 million individuals had diabetes in India, which is expected to rise to over 134 million by 2045. Diabetes mellitus refers to a group of diseases that affect how the body uses blood sugar (glucose). Glucose is an important source of energy for the cells that make up the muscles and tissues.

HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin) measures the amount of glucose attached to hemoglobin in RBCs, which can indicate the average plasma glucose concentration over 8-12 weeks. HbA1c test on HPLC has been considered the gold standard for HbA1c testing for monitoring glucose control in patients with diabetes. It can be performed at any time of the day and does not require any special preparation such as fasting. These properties have made it the preferred test for assessing glycemic control in people with diabetes. Hemoglobin variants, elevated fetal hemoglobin, and chemically modified derivatives, however, can cause HbA1c results to be inaccurate.

LifeDX HBPro is state-of-the-art automation. It is a compact, automated high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) analyzer that uses high-performance liquid chromatography for the quantitative determination of the glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in human whole blood with a processing time of only 130 seconds that will expedite the laboratory TAT.

LifeDX HBPro gives accurate results of HbA1c and also an indicative peak result for any hemoglobin variant or hemoglobinopathy. High-pressure liquid chromatography, to separate HbA1c directly by measuring the absorbance points continually to form a chromatogram. Using normal distribution curve fitting auto-iterative algorithm to get precise HbA1c testing result, excluding interference of variant and unstable hemoglobin like LA1c. The standard analysis mode will report HbA1a, HbA1b, HbF, HbA1c, and HbA0 peak areas and percentages. The result also includes IFCC, NGSP, and ADAG values for diverse client needs.

NGSP (the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program now uses its acronym as its official name) provides updated tables containing information for most of the commonly used current HbA1c methods for the four most common Hb variants, elevated HbF, and carbamylated Hb.

LifeDX HBPro can work on venous blood, finger prick peripheral blood, and whole blood with five samples per rack, batch capacity. Inbuilt thermal print gives chromatogram and results and broad result storage capacity is helpful for traceability. This suffices the requirement of new setups and labs having minimal workload.

Some of the technical features of LifeDX HBPro:

  • Fully automated start-up, maintenance and shutdown;
  • Barcode scanner for sample identification;
  • Five samples loading capacity;
  • NGSP and IFCC certified;
  • Broad test range – 3 percent – 18 percent;
  • Precision – CV ≤1.5 percent;
  • Test speed – 130 secs/test;
  • Double detection- 415nm+500nm Detector;
  • Large display – 10.1-inch TFT true color LCD touch screen;
  • Results storage – 4000 sample results; and
  • Flexible compatibility – USB, LAN, and LIS compatible.

LifeDX HBPro is user-friendly as it is fully automated with minimum operation steps. An external barcode scanner is provided for sample identification and ease of use. Degasser helps to improve the separation effect of the column and prolong its lifetime.

The compact size of the analyzer helps to minimize space requirements as a small footprint reduces the bench space needed. LifeDX HBPro is one of the compact fully automated HPLC analyzer.

In today’s scenario, LifeDX HBPro offers a solution for labs having lesser workload, to test HbA1c on HPLC which is considered as a gold standard methodology with quality results and immediate reporting.
