LSCL to issue health cards to students

On April 1, 2023, Lucknow Smart City Limited (LSCL,) will begin a massive pilot project to assess the health of children going to school; it will also start an initiative on helping the parents gain knowledge regarding their well-being. It was on Thursday when this announcement was made by Pankaj Singh, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Smart City.

“We sincerely aim to examine the health of nearly 2,000 students of Aminabad Inter College, Kashmiri Mohalla Girls’ Inter College as well as Kashmiri Mohalla Montessori School, Lucknow. It is also a part of our plan to bestow upon students Health Cards as well as health insurance of rupees 25,000. If the drive attains the success we propheised it to, it will be implemented across the city schools,” Pankaj worded.

Good news for Lucknow school and university students
Apart from the young school-going children, The City of Nawabs or The Constantinople of India, Lucknow is also extending health insurance cover to more than 30, 000 students in various undergraduate, postgraduate, and research-level courses on the campus itself. This initiative is being started by the renowned Lucknow University. In the days before, the insurance coverage was only bestowed upon nearly 7, 000 undergraduate students of the university who were in their beginning year.

Lucknow University officials voiced that in contemporary times, a sum of rupees 200 is extracted from the students along with the annual fee from the students, who take admission in any undergraduate course. The scheme explicitly states that all the students are eligible for emergency one-time health insurance up to the sum of rupees 25, 000.

Under the new rules, the amount that will be charged as a premium in the coming days will either be rupees 200 or rupees 150 per annum, which will be established by the university of Lucknow for which they are holding a meeting sometime later this week. The university has already forged healthy connections with insurance players to implement the scheme. A student will be provided with a health identification card when the process of admission and enrollment is still ongoing. The health identification card will be valid till the subsequent year of the course or the new course.

What is a health card?
The digital health identification card is an arbitrarily generated, different for every individual, unique 14-digit number used for recognising individuals, verifying them, and getting access to their health records (only if they consent) across various healthcare systems as well as stakeholders. The health identification card is formed using only the basic details of an individual as well as Aadhar or mobile number. Using this digital health identification card, cardholders get access to the option of linking all of their health records digitally.

Digital health identification is associated with National Digital Health Mission (NDHM), also widely known as the Ayushman Bharat Health Mission. The mission was created by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to bestow upon people the needed assistance for the integration of digital health infrastructure in the nation.

The health identification card permits the cardholder to interact with certified health service providers as well as healthcare professionals and also receive a medical prescription, lab reports as well as diagnoses from leading experts in the field. Asiana Times
