Maharashtra to strengthen ties with US on health, other sectors

Maharashtra will cooperate to strengthen commercial relationship with United States, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said Tuesday when he met US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti.

“Maharashtra is a big state in the fields of agriculture, infrastructure, education, health and US should cooperate in these fields. There will be cooperation to strengthen the commercial relations of Maharashtra with US,” Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said.

During the meeting, various ongoing projects in Mumbai, women empowerment and activities of self-help groups were discussed. The CM said that the changing climate is a big challenge for the agriculture sector and appealed to the US to provide technical support.

“Both India and US have commercial relations in the fields of trade, investment and communication. Maharashtra is the leader in foreign direct investment in the country and there are investment opportunities in agriculture, health, education and infrastructure sectors in the state,” Shinde added.
