Manipal Hospitals and TPG Capital Management have emerged as frontrunners to acquire Seattle-based healthcare chain Columbia Asia’s Indian hospital assets in a Rs 2000-crore deal. The talks are at an advanced stage and the transaction is expected to be completed by March 2020. The sale is part of Columbia Asia’s decision to exit Asia operations. Morgan Stanley is running a formal process to find a buyer. Others in the fray included BR Shetty-owned BRS Ventures Investment Ltd., General Atlantic-backed KIMS Hospital Hyderabad, private equity funds Blackstone, and Bain Capital.
