Micro Opens R&D Center

Micro, a full-service contract manufacturer with experience in medical assembly, precision metal stamping, insert and injection molding, machining, sharpening, finishing, and assembly, has opened a state-of-the-art 15,000 square foot R&D center inside the company’s recently purchased 50,000 square foot building at 130 Belmont Drive in Somerset, NJ. This building will also serve as Micro’s headquarters, allowing the company to optimize manufacturing space in their other two locations next door.

The R&D Center was dedicated in honor of company chairman Frank Semcer, Sr. to recognize his 50 years of leadership. Semcer began with Micro in 1969 under the auspices of his father. Manufacturing was a natural fit for Semcer’s interests and passions, which enabled him to grow Micro from a small manufacturer of metal stampings to a leading global provider of medical device contract manufacturing services.

Semcer is a member of The New Jersey Technology & Manufacturing Association, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and the American Society of Quality Control. He serves on the Board of Stevens Institute of Technology, where he received the Harold R. Fee ’20 Alumni Achievement Award in 1985 and the Stevens Honor Award in Innovation and Entrepreneurship in 2010.

Micro continues to provide innovative solutions to the medical device industry, now expanding into the robotic assisted surgery market. This expansion reinforces Micro’s vision “To Help Our Customers Save Lives” by fulfilling their mission to provide “Manufacturing Solutions for Life.” – MPO
