MRI Scan Facility Inaugurated at MGM Government Hospital

An advanced MRI scan equipment installed at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital will serve as a boon for patients from various parts of Tiruchi and neighbouring districts. The equipment, costing ₹1.5 crore, was inaugurated by Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar. The cost of an MRI scan at the hospital has been fixed at ₹2500, which is far less than what is charged by private hospitals. The state-of-the-art equipment is equipped to carry out cardiac MRI, neuro perfusion, diffused tensor imaging, CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) flow study, cartilage mapping, magnetic resonance mammograms, whole body MRI scanning in a single shot to pick up secondaries in the bone like PET (positron emission tomography) scan, and all angiograms, Dean G. Anitha said. Dr Vijaya Baskar also inaugurated the redesigned accident and emergency section, model operating room and kidney transplant ward. in the presence of State Ministers Vellamandi N. Natarajan and S. Valarmathi, District Collector K. Rajamani and MPs T. Rathinavel, P. Kumar, and R.P. Marutharaja.
