After the BMC received 8,000 square meters of land from a builder, it was decided to construct a 360-beds super-specialty hospital at the site in Nahur. The proposal for the construction of the hospital was passed in March 2022. mid-day had reported on August 7, 2022 that construction on the hospital had not started. After the mid-day report, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had ordered the civic authority to start work on the hospital in September.

Nahur is well connected to Thane and Navi Mumbai and the hospital will be within walking distance of the railway station. It will also be well connected to the proposed Metro railway. The hospital is on one side of the proposed Goregaon-Mulund Link Road. A BMC official said, “The hospital will have super-specialty departments like oncology, neurology, nephrology and cardiology. There is a lack of cancer hospitals in the city. In private hospitals the cost of treatment for cancer and other special treatments is very high. We will provide these services at the government rate at this hospital.” Mid-Day
