Nashik: Urban Primary Health Center to be Started at Gorewadi Hospital

Nashik Municipal Corporation will be starting an urban healthcare center in its Gorewadi hospital by next month. The hospital is actually a maternity home but could not be started since 18 years due to a litigation and then due to lack of staff. Now, NMC has decided to start urban healthcare center here to cater to the healthcare needs of the poor. “We are renovating the hospital. It has not been used since it was inaugurated and hence needs to be renovated. We will be starting UPHC here,” said an officer. He said that for delivery, the patient could go to the nearby Bytco Hospital. “In Multanpura, construction has been completed for PHC. We are looking out for more places where we can start PHCs. In Gangapur and Sinnar Phata, we will start the maternity homes at the earliest. We have started with the renovation ” said the official. – TOI
