Noida, Ghaziabad Set Up 24/7 Covid-19 Helplines

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Control rooms have been set up in Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar to monitor the situation around Covid-19 round the clock, and respond to complaints and information shared by residents.

Quick response teams have been constituted to co-ordinate with health department officials and deploy resources to sanitise localities where confirmed cases come to light. In the wake of lockdown, government offices will not allow visitors up to March 25 and have issued helpline numbers for residents.

Officials said control room staff would deal with sanitisation requests, water supply problems, street light malfunction or sewage issues.

More than 6,000 workers will be deployed in Noida and Greater Noida to fumigate and sanitise the high-density locations. Divided into 300 teams, the workers have been sanitising various locations in the twin cities.

Similar drives are also being conducted in Ghaziabad. Mixing isopropyl alcohol along with sodium hypochlorite, a special solution has been created to prevent COVID-19 from spreading further. High-intensity sprinklers and hose pipes are being used to spray water from the tankers across busy markets, bus stations, public toilets, metro stations and areas frequented by pedestrians.

“The idea is to clean all the common areas and facilities which are used widely by the public. Hand railings, benches, footpath, market gates, metro stations are some examples,” said Narendra Bhooshan, the CEO of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA). The teams have been instructed to carry out sanitation drives within the notified villages as well.

The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) has also been carrying out fumigation drives in the city. “We dispatch a team to fumigate and sanitise the societies and common areas around out as soon as the health department alerts us about confirmed COVID-19 case. Five mechanic and 25 manual sprinklers have been deputed for sanitisation,” said Dinesh Chandra, the municipal commissioner.

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is also carrying out sanitisation and awareness drives in the villages in Greater Noida that are located off Yamuna Expressway. “At least 23 villages have been sanitised so far out of 96,” said Shailendra Bhatia, the additional CEO of YEIDA.

While Noida residents can reach out for help on 0120 2425025/26/27, the GNIDA can be approached through 0120 2336046/47/48/49. Ghaziabad residents can also make their complaints or seek help through GMC helpline number – 18001803012.
