Norma’s icon-3

i3LAB

Sowar medical has always opted for the equipment with latest technologies prevailing in the world of medical industry, particularly in the point-of-care segment. Driven by the unique features, coupled with advance technology, Sowar Medical has tied up exclusively for India with Norma Instruments Zrt., Hungary, a company specialized in the designing and manufacturing of high-quality and innovative blood analysis systems (3-part/5-part hematology analyzers) serving the IVD market

Vision of Sowar Medical is to make hematology practices available in every corner of India. The company is continuously focusing on promoting new technologies that can contribute to a more effective patient care by allowing patients to receive quicker diagnosis and treatment at site.

A 3-part hematology instrument provides enough information for typical physician office laboratories. With a simple CBC, the neutrophil and lymphocyte counts will answer the question of a viral infection or a bacterial infection that can be treated with antibiotics. In other words, the 3-part differential analyzer measures the volume of white blood cells electrically & categorizes blood cells, based on their size, into three groups – a small-sized white blood cell group (lymphocytes), a medium-sized white blood cell group (monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils), and a large-sized white blood cell group.

Norma’s Icon-3. The Icon-3 is a smart, elegant, and innovative 3-part differential hematology analyzer that sets new standards in terms of features, functions, and style. This iconic laboratory device combines cutting-edge technology with a fresh and elegant design. The Icon-3 provides a 22-parameter complete cell blood count report that includes histograms for WBC, RBC, and PLT.

What makes this device special and innovative is its microfluidics technology that enables to reduce reagent consumption by approximately 75 percent, compared to other analyzers on the market. Furthermore, the Icon-3 has not only one of the smallest dimensions (280×216×320 mm) within its class, but it measures capillary blood samples as well, which allows it to be used in emergency departments, pediatrics departments, in ICUs, or in private clinics.

Features

  • 3-part differential hematology analyzer that provides a 22-parameter complete blood cell count report;
  • Open- and closed-tube sampling;
  • Possible to measure from capillary samples;
  • Volumetric impedance method for detection of white blood cells (WBC) and red blood cells (RBC), and photometrical method for the measurement of hemoglobin (HGB) levels;
  • Compact size;
  • Extremely low reagent consumption – 75 percent less compared to other analyzers on the market;
  • Reagent packs are available for 100 and 500 tests;
  • Smallest sample volume processing – 2.5 µL processed whole blood;
  • 10.1” LCD touch screen – easy to use, straightforward navigation;
  • Remote Access – a convenient online diagnostic tool; and
  • LIS connectivity.

Norma was among the first companies to utilize microfluidic technologies (the blood samples used for the measurement pass through hairline tubes inside the device) in the development of hematology analyzers, which allowed us to develop the smallest hematology analyzers with the smallest sample volume processing and smallest reagent consumption in the world.

These innovations enable the analyzers to be used in point-of-care or near-patient testing environments, such as in intensive care units, emergency departments, general practitioner offices, blood banks, and mobile care units.

The company plans to introduce a CLIA soon.
