NTPC Ramagundam launches mobile medical unit to check MMR and IMR

As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and Corporate Social Responsibility, NTPC Ramagundam in association with the Dhanwantari hospital launched the services of providing Maternal and Child Health Care (MCH) in the surrounding project-affected villages on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

The mission of the project is to provide antenatal/prenatal & postnatal preventive healthcare services to expectant & new mothers along with providing preventive primary healthcare services to new-born babies and infants, with a higher purpose to reduce Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR). The project is expected to meet the medical needs of 17 project-affected villages and hamlets in the vicinity of NTPC Ramagundam.

Sunil Kumar, Chief General Manager NTPC Ramagundam & Telangana lauded and reiterated NTPC Ramagundam’s commitment to contributing to the cause of providing better accessible healthcare services in the project-affected villages.

The project was formally flagged off by Sunil Kumar Chief General Manager Ramagundam & Telangana, from Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, PTS and dedicated the mobile medical unit to the project-affected villages.

Speaking on the occasion, Itwari Ram Lahiri CMO, NTPC Dhanwantari hospital, briefed the benefits of setting up a mobile medical unit (MMU and added that the MMU would help in decreasing the IMR and MMR and would provide antenatal and post-natal care or to the expectant mother. The MMU would be manned by two MBBS doctors, one paramedical staff, one pharmacist and one driver cum attendant.

SS Trivedia, DGM HR-CSR, stated that the MMU unit would be covering all the project-affected villages and clusters of Ramagundam and will provide doorstep basic medical facilities. The GMs of all the departments and welfare bodies were present on the occasion.

On the occasion of the 153rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, NTPC Ramagundam paid tributes by garlanding his statue in the township.
