Palliative Care Center in Government Hospital Inaugurated

District Collector RV Karnan inaugurated a palliative care center in the Government Hospital in Khammam. The hospital superintendent Dr Madan Mohan told the Collector that the palliative care center would run under the Tata Trust Voluntary Organization. Speaking on the occasion, RV Karnan said palliative care is a multidisciplinary approach to specialised medical and nursing care for people who are suffering with life-long illnesses and to those who are mentally retarded. The palliative care will also be given to patients suffering with kidney and brain related problems and various types of cancers, added the Collector.

Later, the Collector inspected the special ward arranged for conducting the Kanti Velugu program and ordered the concerned medical officials to conduct eye screening tests to all eligible people and carry out necessary eye surgeries if required. The District Collector also inspected the TB ward and Tram Center and advised the medical staff to provide better medical services to the patients visiting the government hospital. The District Medical and Health Officer Kalavati Bhai, RMO Shoba Devi, Dr Prem Kumar, Dr Subba Rao and Dr B Venkateshwarlu and other officials were present. – The Hans India
