Pariyaram Medical College to be Brought Fully Under Government: Health Minister

Health Minister KK Shailaja has said Pariyaram Medical College will be made into an institution completely owned by the state government. Interacting with the reporters here on Monday, she also said the government plans is to introduce a bill in this connection in the legislative assembly in January. When an institution under the cooperative sector is shifted into the government sector, some procedures have to be followed, and this would take some time, she added. When it is brought under government, certain changes have to be brought about in the medical education, staff pattern and the facilities to be provided to the common people, said the minister, who added that the plan is to complete the takeover process during the tenure of the present government itself.

She also said that the women and children hospital in Mangattuparamba would be modernized and an early intervention center to diagnose the deformities in children would be started here. An infertility treatment center would also be opened in this hospital, said the minister. The health minister, who also inaugurated the medical camp organized by the Janamaithri police under Iritty subdivision, said new projects would be introduced for the healthcare of the tribal community. This government gives high importance to the health sector, she said, adding that the government has sanctioned a homeo clinic to Aralam Farm. The health minister, who released a documentary, Ambilippattam, on the study activities implemented in the anganwadis in Thaliparamba, said the government has prepared a master plan to elevate the anganwadis to pre-schools. In the first stage, it will be implemented in the select anganwadis and then it would be expanded further, she said. – TOI
