ROADMAP 2021

The year 2020 has been a year unlike any other year in our history. It has impacted the fabric of our society and life – but most importantly it has changed the healthcare industry forever. For me, it was a case of the rate of change in our industry switching from evolutionary to revolutionary, with the pandemic forcing many of us to modify our plans completely, both on a personal and corporate level. Many trends accelerated in the digital world, and I believe the new normal is here to stay.

The roadmap to 2021 is based on what we have learnt in 2020. We must be on our toes to be innovative and we must continuously change in order to be in the business and we should be proactive and must not wait for mistakes to come to us.

What 2021 holds for us
One of the major changes 2021 will see is the drift from the conventional approach as there will be changes in the conventional style of healthcare delivery. Technology will replace many operational activities, traditional OPDs will slowly shift toward video conference, and telehealth will require doctors and nurses to be more tech savvy and conventional diseases will see fewer cases as compared with lifestyle diseases and psychological disorders.

Taking note of above, we have taken following measures in Medicover Hospitals:
We have started using AI cameras that will not only capture the attendance of the staff but will help in analyzing the emotions of the patients and staff. Through this we will be able to gauge the employee satisfaction index and the satisfaction level of patients;
We are also planning to acquiring AI based solutions for predictive analytics and clinical decision making in our inpatient and diagnostic setup;

  • We have planned to use drones to transfer laboratory samples from our OPD center to our laboratory a few meters away;
  • We have also acquired India’s first Gen 2 Discovery IQ 4D PET-CT to facilitate the most precise diagnosis through PET- guided biopsy that scans in just 5 mins and delivers the finest patient outcomes; and
  • We have recently added a 75 OPD chambered new OPD block that is separate from the inpatient block. The concept of separate OPD block is emerging as to separate OP from IP services and hence prevent the spread of infection. This new OPD block will be a complete paperless system and will be incorporated by features like battery operated cars to carry patients from OPD to IPD and latest décor trends that aim to surround visitors in an ambience of positivity and create a benign psychological impact.

Plans for growth
Medicover Hospitals is one of the fastest growing healthcare chains in the globe with presence in 13 countries, and 26 hospitals in India at Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra and this year we are looking for expanding to Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai as well. We are a rapidly growing multinational healthcare brand and we have expanded from 500 employees in June 2015 to 7000 employees as on this date and a turnover now checking around ₹800 crore per annum. We are aiming toward 5000 beds with top line over ₹3000 crore and wish to be three best healthcare companies in the country by 2022.

The Group’s strategic approach has been at the core of its seamless expansion and can be captured in the trifecta of strengthening base via growth in existing markets, operational excellence that ensures business viability and relentless excellence in every aspect of service. Its aggressive expansion in India is a direct response to the fast-growing demand for quality treatment in the country. It also reflects the current trend of foreign investors amplifying their stakes in the domestic market.

For us, the mantra for growth is ensuring access to high-quality healthcare services when and where customers need it most. As a result, along with metros and tier 1 cities, our vision is to extend the ecosystem of healing to tier II and III cities as well, where the need is both intense and under-addressed.
