SCCL sanctions Rs 500 cr for hospital and medical college at Ramagundam

The long-cherished dream of Ramagundam people for a super specialty hospital and medical college has come true with the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) sanctioning Rs 500 crore for setting up the college.

In its 133 year history, this is the first time SCCL has sanctioned Rs 500 crore towards cost of setting up a hospital though it has been supporting different initiatives under its Corporate Social Responsibility.

The decision to this effect was taken at the Board of Directors meeting held on December 10. Further, on Monday, during the 100th Annual General Meeting held at Kothagudem, the decision to set up a super speciality hospital and medical college was unanimously approved.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao during a meeting with Singareni employees at Srirampur two years ago, had announced the plans to set up a super speciality hospital and medical college.

Accordingly, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar introduced a resolution for sanction of Rs.500 crore for setting up the hospital and medical college at the Board of Directors meeting. It was passed unanimously.

Setting up a super specialty hospital and medical college in Ramagundam would benefit SCCL employees, retired employees and the residents of Peddapally, Mancherial, Bhupapalpally and Komram Bheem Asifabad districts.

All efforts will be made to set up the super speciality hospital and medical college in the next two years, Sridhar said.

On behalf of Singareni employees, Sridhar thanked the Chief Minister for deciding to set up a hospital and medical college at Ramagundam. Telangana Today
