A Vision To Unburden Your Health
The long-term vision of Suburban Diagnostics has always been to be regarded as the most admired diagnostic company in the world. We strongly feel that this admiration can be won only when we make a significant contribution toward the overall betterment of healthcare, by being patient-centric and health-centric in our everyday approach. Hence, for the last 25 years of our existence, being pro-patient and taking a proactive rather than reactive approach to healthcare has been ingrained in our DNA. Do not do a test only after you fall ill, do a test not to fall ill has been our mantra of preventive healthcare.
In line with this philosophy, in its 25th year, Suburban Diagnostics has launched a twin campaign that is quite close to our hearts – a mass campaign called #UnburdenYourHealth and a doctor-centric one called #UnburdenHealthcare. Through #UnburdenYourHealth we want to impress upon patients and healthy individuals that regular and proactively done health check-ups can be a great tool for early recognition of silently developing disorders and preventing them from assuming a complicated stage. Unburdening one’s health this way, translates into unburdening the entire family and then the society at large, from the avoidable and preventable burden of disease.
On the other hand, #UnburdenHealthcare will provide a platform for the medical fraternity to get involved with Suburban Diagnostics, to work toward the overall betterment of healthcare in the country, raise awareness among patients about various disorders and their preventive and remedial measures; thus again contributing toward reducing the burden of diseases on India’s healthcare ecosystem.
As a large diagnostic chain, there are a few key areas that I believe can take centerstage in the cause of reducing the burden of diseases:
Maternal health parameters – through our center of excellence for women’s health we aspire to significantly improve the outcome for pregnant women through tests like Hb, urine, and dual marker with NT scan, reduce maternal mortality, and reduce the incidence of genetic abnormalities in the new born. Our aim is to make NIPT affordable and the standard of care for all pregnant women in India
Culture tests – misuse and inappropriate use of antibiotics is one of the reasons for the scourge of drug resistance; by advocating the use of culture tests to guide the use of antibiotics, through our center of excellence in infectious diseases, we wish to reduce the incidence of drug resistance and promote antibiotic stewardship programs
Molecular diagnostics for early and confirmatory detection of disease – by the use of molecular technology, we wish to detect common infections early and accurately, thus reducing the guesswork on treatment protocols, unnecessary hospital admission, reducing incidence of complications, and reducing the overall cost of treatment
Preventive health check-ups – we wish to take a leadership position of shifting the mind-set from a reactive to a proactive behavior, thus treating in OPDs and not IPDs, detecting disease when it can be reversed, reducing the need for hospitalization, and saving costs for medical care
Home visits (home healthcare) – by increasing the accessibility of our services for those patients who are unable to visit our diagnostic facilities, thus increasing coverage of patients in need and reducing wastage of time in getting timely healthcare
It is our clarion call to patients, healthy individuals, and clinicians alike – join us in our endeavor to unburden society and unburden the healthcare system, from the growing menace of disorders. This is a cause that we do not just need to win, but a cause that we need to champion, as the old maxim goes, talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.
