BPL carries its legacy back to 1969 as the first Indian company to manufacture ECG devices in India. BPL has always been a preferred non-invasive cardiology brand in the fraternity of medical practitioners whereby it has ECG machines, defibrillators, stress test systems, and cardiac analyzers to offer to its customers. Today, we have evolved from being known as an ECG brand to one of the largest Indian medical devices companies offering a wide range of products and solutions to our customers.
I joined BPL Medical in 2013 with a vision to transform the organization as one of the largest Indian medical devices company. Today we operate across six product segments namely cardiology, critical care, women and child care, imaging, homecare, and consumables and accessories.
To expand our presence in the critical care segment, in 2015 we acquired Penlon, a company based in Abingdon, UK which is a 75-years-old strong brand offering anesthesia products globally. Penlon has its presence in more than 90 countries through its wide distribution network. We have also enhanced our patient monitoring range to offer to our customers a wide range of products to choose from. Recently, we have partnered with Löwenstein, Germany and added a range of ventilators to our offerings thereby completing our product basket in the critical care segment.
In imaging, we partnered with South Korean based Alpinion to offer co-branded ergonomically designed ultrasound machines with superior image quality. We have also designed and developed a fully indigenized range of C-arm and X-ray products which are manufactured at our ISO certified facility located at Palakkad. This is in line with our vision to indigenize and manufacture more medical devices in India. These equipments are designed keeping Indian patients and hospital eco-systems in mind with highest standards of radiation safety and user friendliness. Further, we also have a full range of DR systems, multi-purpose DRF systems, and retrofit flat panel solutions for DR upgradability to offer to our customers.
We have recently partnered with Atom from Japan which is a global leader in the neonatal segment known for its superior quality products. With this partnership we have added high-quality warmers and incubators along with our other products such as fetal doppler and fetal monitor to become a solution provider for the maternal and infant care segment.
India’s large population and under-penetrated healthcare infrastructure make preventive health and care at home very important; so that the existing infrastructure is optimally utilized by the needy patients. We see a huge demand for preventive health in the coming years with rising disposal incomes and increased focus on health. Homecare is an important segment for BPL Medical as it helps us connect with the end-users directly. In the homecare segment, we have a host of products ranging from BP machines, weighing machines, thermometers, and air purifiers which are connected through our wellness app BPL Be Well. Moreover, we also provide our customers a range of accessories and consumables which are needed to support our equipment. This ensures constant touch point leading to improved customer satisfaction.
At BPL Medical, our focus has always been to serve our customers with commitment and an honest approach and our strength has been to reach the last mile in the nook and corners of our vast geography to serve our customers. We can effectively do that through our large 100-member service team and our distribution network with PAN India presence.
In the last 5 years, BPL Medical has transformed itself as a solution provider for small nursing homes and also large multispecialty hospitals with the single-minded approach of keeping customer first. We are confident that with the booming market of medical devices BPL Medical is well-positioned on a path of strong growth trajectory for years to come to serve our customers in India and beyond.
