Indian Spinal Injuries Centre (ISIC) is notable for providing the best medical services for spinal, orthopedic problems, and neuromuscular disorders around the country. ISIC is a non-profit organization. It is an extremely modern and ultra-efficient hospital, besides treating disorders of spine. The centre aims to reach and improve the quality of life of large number of newly spinal injured individuals day in and day out by rendering quality services accessible and affordable to all. The philosophy and guiding principle of the centre is not to deprive any one of the medical treatment due to dearth of funds. This is a hospital with heart and soul—a place that aims to provide world class standards and personalized healthcare and helps its patients feel the joy of living through. Though built with Italian collaboration, it is really the result of one man’s vision. A soldier, a mountaineer, a dreamer, an administrator, and a tetra-paraplegic – Major HPS Ahluwalia, chairman, ISIC, is all this and much more. One of the unique features of this building is that it is a totally barrier-free environment.
The present facility will be expanded to add 60 more beds to develop specialties which would complement the existing super-specialty spine and orthopedic services and give an equal emphasis to research and education. The services to be developed include neurosciences, urology, chest medicine and pulmonology, general surgery and GI surgery, musculoskeletal and neurospine oncology, medical, surgical and radiation oncology, education and research. Five additional operation theaters have been provisioned. The proposed specialties will have state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and infrastructure along with super specialized clinical teams and technical staff.
It aspires to achieve a deemed university status and start its own post-graduation as well as PhD program, besides conventional methods of treating illness. ISIC has developed alternative and holistic methods of rehabilitating its patients. Our aim is to restore hope and joy in the heart of every patient with unrelenting attention to clinical excellence, patient safety, and an unparalleled dedication to assure exemplary physical, emotional, and spiritual care.
