Set up Hospital as Per OHRC Order

Andharua villagers have requested the State Government to establish a Community Health Center in their village as per the direction of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), which was issued one-and-a-half-year ago. Acting on a petition filed by lawyer Kabiraj Sahoo, the OHRC had on May 15, 2017 issued a direction to the Health and Family Welfare Secretary for establishment of a CHC in Andharua gram panchayat under the Chandaka police station in Khordha district. In his petition, Sahoo had argued that most of Andharua villagers belong to the economically weaker section of the society and are suffering from different kinds of diseases. The villagers mainly depend on the Capital Hospital, even for a minor treatment.

However, they find it difficult to move to the hospital during night hours as Andharua and other villages under the GP are quite vulnerable to menace of wild animals like elephants, bears and venomous snakes. Hence, the villagers deserve minimum healthcare facilities in homeopathic and allopathic. Sahoo had named the Health Secretary, Khordha district Collector, BDO and Tehsildar of Bhubaneswar as other parties in the case filed in the OHRC. Meanwhile, Sahoo and other villagers have demanded that the Health Secretary and the district Collector take required steps for establishment of a CHC in Andharua GP at the earliest. – Daily Pioneer
