Tirupur Govt Hosp Gets 200-Bed Obstetrics

New buildings for obstetrics and gynaecology (O&G) department and the district early intervention centre were inaugurated at the Tirupur government hospital on Wednesday.
Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami inaugurated the buildings through video-conferencing from Madurai.

The 200-bed O&G department building comes with special newborn care unit and comprehensive emergency obstetric and newborn care, besides neo-natal and postnatal and gynaecology wards.

“All these facilities were already existing in the hospital. But now on, they would function from a single building, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 20 crore. It has modern facilities such as medical gas pipelines,” a senior doctor said.

When it comes to the district early intervention centre, the new modern building would ease the treatment process. “Under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) programme under the national health mission, children would be screened in schools and anganwadis. If they are diagnosed with any hereditary diseases and other defects, they would be referred to the early intervention centre,” the doctor said.

“The centre has facilities to diagnose and treat the patients clinically, and if surgery or advance treatment is needed, they would be referred to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.-Times Of India
