TN-Meghalaya ink MoU to recruit, train medicos

The State Health Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Meghalaya to facilitate recruitment and training of medical professionals.

The department will also provide support for training of medicos and government doctors at Comprehensive emergency Obstetrics and Newborn Care (CeMONC) centres, Lifesaving Anaesthesia Skills (LSAS) and Ultrasonography.

The MoU was signed between health ministers of respective states, Ma Subramanian and PK Sangma, at the TN Government Multi Super-Speciality Hospital in Omandurar Government Estate on Monday.

Sangma and his team will also visit various medical facilities in TN on a two-day tour to understand their functioning and witness the activities of several medical programmes and implement them in Meghalaya.

“Services provided by the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation, its various structures and activities of drug depots, and Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam and Innuyir Kappom Thittam-NK 48 (pilot basis) will be implemented in Meghalaya,” said Subramanian. “A team of medical experts will visit primary health centres across the State, and also take a look at services like robotic surgery, high radiation therapy, full body specialty at low cost, etc.”

He added that the team will visit several departments in Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super-Speciality Hospital and Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. DTNext
