UP govt partners with IIT Kanpur for AI-powered telemedicine

The Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for healthcare delivery and advanced telemedicine facilities in the state with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The MoU outlines several key areas of collaboration, including anchoring telemedicine hubs and enhancing the quality of telemedicine services, implementing AI-based solutions to address population health impact, developing point-of-care diagnostics to drive program improvements, conducting competency-based capacity building for health cadres, and utilising database predictions and analysis for informed decision-making, IIT Kanpur said in a statement.

This will help the Department to make optimal use of the UP Digital Health Stack (UP-DHS) and ensure that every citizen of the state, wherever they are, will be able to access healthcare when needed.

“The partnership between the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology of IIT Kanpur and the Uttar Pradesh Government will enhance healthcare delivery by integrating AI into telehealth and point-of-care diagnostics. We can bridge gaps and improve accessibility in healthcare by implementing AI-driven solutions. Using AI and machine learning to analyse data and predict population-based needs and outcomes will improve healthcare delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
