Vizag to Host Meet on Blood Banking

Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology (ISBTI), AP Chapter is organizing Transcon 2018 Vizag, a National conference on blood banking for which several senior blood banking specialists and donor motivators will be visiting from all over the country on October 27 and 28 in the city. This is the 43rd national conference conducted through the state chapters of the ISBTI and it collaborates with similar societies abroad to exchange ideas of current and future practices. This is the first such national conference being held in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Dr Aravati Yashovardhan, MD Transfusion Medicine, Red Cross Nellore and General Secretary AP Chapter, Dr A Sugandhi, MD Pathology, A S Raja Voluntary Blood Bank and Joint Secretary of AP Chapter, Dr K Srinivasa Murthy of Dhanwantari Blood Bank are leading the conference to be held at ‘V’ convention, Novotel hotel. While addressing the media on Thursday, Dr Sugandhi said that events like these allow for the development of a strong common knowledge base on a practical level, as well as paving the pathway for future developments in the field.

Any new innovations in the field and their application are made known through the various presentations put up by the experts at the conference. The latest equipment from various countries including US, Germany, China, India and other nations would be displayed in the exhibition stalls during the conference, Sugandhi added. The event is an excellent platform for doctors, social workers and various other parties to interact with one another and develop new modalities. The governing body headed by Dr Yudbhir Singh would present the prestigious ISBTI awards to meritorious people who have done immense work over long durations in their respective fields, she said. – The Hans India
